
No. 14 Softball Travels to Oklahoma

The No. 14/17 University of Louisville softball team is back in action for a four-game road swing in Oklahoma March 5-7. The Cards will open the weekend at No. 24/25 Oklahoma State Friday at 7 p.m. (ET). Saturday, the Cards will travel to Oklahoma City to play in the Preview featuring Bedlam at the ASA/USA Softball Hall of Fame Stadium where they will face Nevada at 11 a.m. and Oklahoma State at 6:30 p.m. U of L will wrap up the weekend at No. 8/11 Oklahoma Sunday at 1 p.m.
Louisville is coming off of a 4-0 performance at the Cardinal Classic in which they defeated Saint Louis (twice), Purdue and Northern Illinois to improve their record to 13-2 on the season.
The Cards are led offensively by senior catcher Melissa Roth who batting .581 with seven doubles, 19 runs and 15 RBI. Senior Vanessa James follows with a .432 average, 13 runs, nine stolen bases and nine RBI. Freshman Jordan Trimble rounds out the top three with a .342 average, seven runs and 11 RBI.
Senior Kristen Wadwell (5-1) carries a 2.98 ERA with 34 strikeouts in 42.1 innings of work. Sophomore Tori Collins (4-1) holds a 2.85 ERA with 40 Ks in 27.0 innings. Freshman Chelsea Leonard (4-0) has a 2.93 ERA with 47 strikeouts in 28.2 innings.

Roth Named to BIG EAST Honor Roll
Senior catcher Melissa Roth led the Cardinals to a 4-0 performance at the Cardinal Classic. Roth batted .545 (6 for 11) with six runs, five RBI, a double and a home run for a 1.000 slugging percentage. She was hit by a pitch and walked three times for a .667 on base percentage. She had at least one hit in each game, including a 3 for 4 performance against Saint Louis, and scored at least one run, as she set a new school record for career runs. She currently has 164 and surpassed Courtney Moore's mark of 162 when she scored in the 5-3 win over Saint Louis (2/27). Roth leads the team with a .581 average, 19 runs and 15 RBI.
Card Notes>/b> Melissa Roth owns the career doubles record with 57, she surpassed Keola Calderon's mark of 53 which has stood since the 2003 season.
Roth also holds the all-time record for runs with 162 - she passed Courtney Moore's previous high of 162 set in 2007.
Vanessa James' three stolen bases against Houston tied a school record for stolen bases in a game.
Roth is currently on a 10 game hitting streak dating back to the Feb. 19 game against St. John's. In fact, Roth has had a hit in all but one of Louisville's 15 games this season - the 2-0 loss to Ohio State.
