The No. 15/17 University of Louisville softball team is set to host Cardinal Classic Feb. 26-28 at Ulmer Stadium. In their home opener, the Cardinals (9-2) will play host to former Conference USA opponent Saint Louis Friday at noon and Purdue at 2 p.m. in a rematch from the 2009 NCAA regional.
Louisville is coming off of a 5-1 performance in Charleston, S.C. last weekend. The Cards picked up wins over St. John's, Charleston Southern, Akron and College of Charleston and fell to Charleston Southern for their second loss of the season.
The Cards are led offensively by the reigning BIG EAST Player of the Week senior catcher Melissa Roth who batting .594 with five doubles, 13 runs and 10 RBI. Senior Vanessa James follows with a .424 average, seven runs and seven RBI. Freshman Jordan Trimble rounds out the top three with a .346 average, five runs and seven RBI.
Senior Kristen Wadwell (4-1) carries a 2.87 ERA with 22 strikeouts in 31.2 innings. Sophomore Tori Collins (2-1) holds a 2.62 ERA with 26Ks in 16.0 innings. of work. Freshman Chelsea Leonard (3-0) has a 3.13 ERA with 38 strikeouts in 22.1 innings.

Last Meeting: April 24-25, 2005- The Cards swept a three game series at Ulmer Stadium, winning 11-0; setting a school record for runs in an 18-2 victory on April 24 and picking up a 1-0 win on April 25.

Last Meeting: May 15-16, 2009 - Louisville opened the 2009 NCAA regional with a 4-1 win over the Boilermakers on May 15. Purdue returned the favor with a 5-4 decision in an elimination game on May 16 to end the Cards' season.

The Cardinals will go back on the road for the Oklahoma/Oklahoma State challenge March 5-7. U of L will face No. 9/12 Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Nevada.
