
Women's Tennis Advances at Hokie Invitational

The U of L women's tennis has advanced doubles team of Mandy Brown and Julia Fellerhoff to advance to the finals Saturday in morning tournament action. While in singles action, Fellerhoff earned another final opportunity with her play in the afternoon action at the Hokie Invitational in Blacksburg, Virginia.
Fellerhoff has a chance to complete a great weekend playing in the finals for consecutive weeks in both singles and doubles action. She won a decisive 6-3, 6-2 victory over Olga Blank of UNC-Wimington in the semifinal match in Flight A group in singles to advance to finals play on Sunday at 10 a.m. Her opponent will be Holley Johnson from the host team of Virginia Tech.
The team of Brown and Fellerhoff won their quarterfinal match against Nisha Crouser and Stephani Synn of Davidson with an 8-5 victory in the Flight A doubles group. They went on to beat Catherine Kellner and Maria Voscekova of Marshall 8-3 to make the finals. The pair has earned trips to the finals in back to back weeks after reaching last week at Michigan State. They will face the team of Sandra Herrera and Giovanna Portiolli of Winthrop Sunday at 9 a.m.
Rebecca Shine, Kaysara Mandry, and Stefanie Villajuan all lost in semifinal match and will play Sunday in the consolation match.
