
Softball to Host Fall Tournament This Weekend

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville softball team will host a fall tournament Sept. 26-27 at Ulmer Stadium. The tournament field includes Bellarmine, Morehead State and Murray State. The Cards will face Bellarmine Saturday at 11 a.m. and Murray State at 3 p.m.
The Cards are coming off of a record-setting season in 2009, finishing at 48-11, setting a new mark for wins and tying the record for fewest losses after reaching their sixth straight NCAA regional appearance. Additionally, Louisville was a mainstay in the top 25 rankings, reaching a program-high of 14th in both the National Fastpitch Coaches Association and USA Softball polls. U of L closed the season at No. 24 in the NFCA poll.
The Cards return 12 letterwinners and seven starters from last year's team including All-Americans Melissa Roth and Kristen Wadwell. Eight newcomers will also open play at Ulmer Stadium this weekend.
