LOUISVILLE, Ky. - University of Louisville head coach Ron Mann released the 2009-10 indoor track and field schedule on Wednesday which features several familiar meets.
"This is a great mix of competitions on a variety of different world renowned sites," said Mann.
Louisville will open their fifth straight indoor season on Dec. 5 at the Fast Start Invitational in Carbondale, Ill. Following a little over a month hiatus, the Cards will return to the track for the first of six consecutive weeks of action on Jan. 9 at the Indiana Open in Bloomington. It marks the third straight year UofL will compete at the meet.
The Cards then travel to Lexington on Jan. 16 for the Kentucky Invitational, followed by a trip to compete in a four-way scored meet at the Notre Dame Invitational on Jan. 23. Joining Louisville and the host Fighting Irish will be Michigan State and Marquette. UofL closes out the month with a return trip to intra-state rival Kentucky on Jan. 30 for the Rod McCravy Invitational. The Cardinals have signed up for this competition for the fourth straight year.
UofL revisits BIG EAST foe Notre Dame in the second of three meets when they compete at the Meyo Invitational on Feb. 6 for the sixth consecutive season. They will then travel back to Bloomington on Feb. 12 for the Hoosier Hills Invitational.
The weekend of Feb. 20-21, brings the Cards to the Gotham City for the BIG EAST Indoor Championships at the legendary New Balance Track & Field Center at the Armory. The final tune-up for NCAA's comes on March 6 when UofL invades South Bend for the Alex Wilson Invitational, marking the fifth straight year they will make the trek. The indoor season comes to an end on March 12-13 when the Cardinals compete at the NCAA Indoor Championships at University of Arkansas' Randal Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville, Ark.
