U of L Cardinal Caravan Will Make Six Area Stops

University of Louisville coaches and athletics staff members will make six regional stops in late May and early June with its annual "Cardinal Caravan" in an effort to reach out to U of L fans.
"This eighth annual event allows us to reach out and show our appreciation to those that support our programs throughout the year," said Tom Jurich, Vice President and Director of Athletics at U of L. "Our staff enjoys the opportunity to share some time up close with so many loyal Cardinal fans around the region."
The Cardinal Caravan will kick off with two stops on May 27 -- in Owensboro, Ky. at English Park at 11:30 a.m.; and in Elizabethtown, Ky. at 3 Putt Willie's at 5:30 p.m. Members of the U of L coaching and support staff will also visit the River Walk at Lamplighter Park in Madison, Ind. on May 28; the Northern Kentucky/Cincinnati area at Molly Malone's Irish Pub in Covington, Ky. on June 2; the Shelby County Fairgrounds Pavilion in Shelbyville, Ky. on June 3; and Huber's Orchard and Winery in Starlight, Ind. on June 4. Additional stops in the Louisville area will occur in August at locations and dates to be determined.
The 2009 Cardinal Caravan will include a commemorative t-shirt giveaway, appearances by the national champion U of L cheerleaders, Ladybirds and Cardinal Bird, as well as a special Caravan issue of the Louisville Sports Report. Among those scheduled to appear at selected stops at the free events are Jurich, men's basketball coach Rick Pitino, football coach Steve Kragthorpe and women's basketball coach Jeff Walz, as well as additional U of L coaches and staff members.
