
Cardinals Tune-Up for BIG EAST at WKU Invitational

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - The University of Louisville men's and women's track and field teams won three event titles and earned eight top-five finishes at the WKU Invite hosted by Western Kentucky University on Saturday at Charles M. Ruter Track.Leading the way for the Cardinal women was sophomore Lecia Brown who finished second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 55.70, the third fastest in school history. Brown also was runner-up in the 200-meter dash, clocking 24.94. It marked her first individual competition of the outdoor season.
Freshman Kiersten Kirkland won the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:03.63, while junior Jenean Pressley tied for first in the high jump, clearing 5-05 (1.65m).
In the 100-meter hurdles, junior Theresa Lewis placed second with a time of 14.39.
The No. 20 ranked Cardinal men were led by freshman Jacques Caldwell who took the 200-meter dash title with a time of 22.15.
Sophomores Chris Wolfe and Neil Angermeier earned second place finishes in their respective events. Wolfe ran a 1:53.82 in the 800-meter run, while Angermeier cleared 6-06.75 (2.00m) in the high jump.
U of L will next contend for the BIG EAST Outdoor Championships in Philadelphia, Pa. on May 1-3.
