
Women's Golf Captures BIG EAST Title

Tampa, Fla. - The University of Louisville women's golf team captured their third BIG EAST title in four years today at the Lake Jovita Golf Club. The Cardinals won their first BIG EAST title in 2006 at the same golf course and then repeated at champions in 2007. The Cardinals earn the conference's automatic qualification into the women's NCAA Regionals May 7-9.
The Cardinals shot a 295 in the final round to capture the BIG EAST crown. Louisville finished with a score of 876 for an 11 stroke lead over Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish finished second with a score of 887 while Cincinnati finished third with a score of 917.
Sophomore Sara-Maude Juneau finished second after carding a 73 in the final round. Juneau finished with a score of 218 behind Notre Dame's Lisa Manu who took titlest honors with a score of 215.
Senior Cindy LaCrosse finished tied at third after shooting a 73 in the final round. LaCrosse finished with a score of 219. Sophomore Laura Anderson finished fifth after carding a 75 in the final round. Anderson finished the tournament with a score of 220.
Junior Daphne Parker shot a 74 in the final round. Parker finished tied at sixth with a score of 221. Freshman Maria Castellanos shot a 77 in the final round. Castellanos finished 13th with a score of 227.
