The No. 20/22 University of Louisville softball team(14-2) will face Bradley on Friday, March 6 at 2 p.m. in the first game of the Louisville Tournament. The Cards will play No. 8 Michigan on Saturday at noon and Tennessee Tech at 2 p.m. Louisville will complete the weekend against Tennessee Tech Sunday at 4 p.m. Gametracker for all games will be available at uoflsports.com
The University of Louisville softball team is No. 20 in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25 and No. 22 in the USA Today/National Fastpitch Coaches Association Top 25 poll. They are also No. 18 in the Ultimate College Softball poll.
The Cardinals are making their third straight appearance in the top 25, moving up one spot in the NFCA, two spots in the USA Softball and staying the same in the UCS rankings.
Louisville is batting a hefty .321 as a team and is outscoring opponents 89-29. With eight starters above the .300 mark - juniors Melissa Roth and Vanessa James are tied atop the team's batting leaders with a .400 average. Roth has a team-leading 15 runs, while James is not far behind with 13. Kristi Cunningam has six home runs and 20 RBIs on the season.
Junior Kristen Wadwell (9-2) carries a 1.16 ERA with 62 strikeouts in 78.2 innings of work She has three shutouts and two saves on the year and is holding opponents to a .176 batting average. Freshman Tori Collins (5-0) holds a 2.21 ERA with 17 Ks in 25.1 innings pitched.
