Nationally-ranked Australian Sarah Miller has signed a national-letter-of-intent to continue her tennis career as a Cardinal at the University of Louisville, announced women's coach Mark Beckham.
"I am excited about Sarah Miller joining our team. I fell like Sarah s going to be the type of player we hope to bring into our program now and in the years to come," said Beckham, who just led the Cardinals to their first-ever NCAA appearance last month.
Miller, of Mont Albert, Victoria, Australia is ranked No. 39 in the country for U18 and is No. 89 in the open division. She is particularly skilled at doubles play and was awarded the 2007 Doubles Award by Tennis Victoria as the best Open Doubles player in the state.
"She is an accomplished doubles player and doubles play is very important in the college game," said Beckham. "I think she is going to be a surprise in college tennis next year. We beat out the Big Ten, the Big 12 and the SEC to get Sarah here, which shows you that she is a high level player."
Miller won the Wild Card by Tennis Australia in Junior Australian Open Qualifying last January.
