
Women's Golf Earns Bid to NCAA East Regional

Louisville, Ky. - The University of Louisville women's golf team earned an at-large bid to the 2008 NCAA Regional Championship to be held in Athens, Ga. May 8-10 at the University of Georgia Golf Course. The Cardinals earned their highest seed at No.10 in the East Region. The bid is the second consecutive appearance for the Cardinals and their third overall appearance since the program was started in 2000.
Louisville finished second at the BIG EAST Championship last Tuesday in Cincinnati. The Cardinals have only finished out of the Top 10 once this season. The Cards have finished in the Top Five of seven tournaments this season, including a win at the Canes/Cardinal Classic.
Junior Cindy LaCrosse leads the Cardinals with a 74.0 stroke average. LaCrosse recently tied the school record for most tournament wins, taking medalist honors at the Canes/Cardinal Classic. LaCrosse has six Top 10 finishes and two Top 20 finishes this season. LaCrosse was named an All-BIG EAST selection for the third consecutive year along with teammates Sara-Maude Juneau and Laura Anderson.
Freshman Sara-Maude Juneau is second on the team with a 75.1 stroke average. Juneau broke into the starting lineup her first season and has three Top 10 finishes and three Top 20 finishes this season. Under the direction of Kelly Rothberg, the Cardinals are currently ranked 28th by Golfstat and 28th by Golf Week.
