Louisville, Ky. - The University of Louisville women's golf team will try to defend their BIG EAST Title when the 2008 BIG EAST Golf Championship begins on April 20-22 at the par 72, 6,080-yard Elks Run Golf Club in Batavia, Ohio. Notre Dame enters the tournament as the No. 1 seed while the Cardinals are ranked right behind them, earning the No. 2 seed. South Florida enters the tournament as the No. 3 seed.
Last season the Cardinals won their second consecutive BIG EAST Tournament title after a dramatic play off win over the Fighting Irish at the Oxmoor Country Club. Louisville is currently ranked No. 26 in the Golfweek Sagarin Ratings while Notre Dame is ranked No. 25.
Junior Cindy LaCrosse is coming off her best tournament of the year, winning medalist honors at the Canes/Cardinal Classic. LaCrosse is ranked 48th in the Golfstat College Cup and will try to become the first Cardinal to win back-to-back BIG EAST Titles. The Cardinals have finished in the Top 10 of every tournament this spring. Louisville has only placed out of the Top 10 in just one tournament this whole season.
