ATLANTA - The University of Louisville earned three NCAA Mideast Regional qualifying marks and won two event titles Saturday at the rain-shortened Yellow Jacket Invitational hosted by Georgia Tech. Eight running events and five field events were cancelled due to the weather conditions in downtown Atlanta.

Leading the way for the Louisville women was the trio of Jere' Summers, ZeNai Savage and Chinwe Okoro, who each earned NCAA regional marks in the shot put on Saturday. Summers, a sophomore from Oakland, Calif., won the shot put title with a throw of 50 feet, 7.25 inches, the second best throw in school history. Savage, a senior captain from Indianapolis, Ind., was fifth with a regional mark of 49-09.75, while freshman Chinwe Okoro, from Russell, Ky., was seventh overall with a regional throw of 47-00.25.

Summers also added a second-place finish in the discus on Saturday and was second in the hammer on Friday with an NCAA regional mark in that event as well.

Leading the way for the Louisville was senior Chris Danks with his victory in the 800m run with a time of 1:50.85, the second best time in school history.

The Cards had one athlete, Tarah McKay, compete on Saturday at the Raleigh (N.C.) Relays as the sophomore earned an eighth-place finish in the 800m run. On Friday in Raleigh, the U of L men earned two NCAA regional marks as redshirt freshman Michael Eaton with a third-place finish in the 5,000-meter run, while junior Cory Thorne finished seventh in the race.

Up next, the Cards will compete at the Texas Relays on April 3-5 in Austin, Texas.
