
10th Ranked Cardinals Host the Downtown Marriott Cardinal Classic

Louisville, Ky. - The 10th ranked Louisville Cardinals will host the Downtown Marriott Cardinal Classic in Freedom Hall Dec. 28-30. The Classic will tip off on Sunday with Central Michigan against New Hampshire at 1:00 p.m. and the Cardinals will face Morehead State at 3:30 p.m.
The Cardinals enter the tournament ranked 10th in the AP Poll and 13th in the Coaches Poll this week. Louisville enters the game with an overall record of 10-1. Senior Angel McCoughtry leads the team in scoring and rebounding with 21.9 points and 8.9 rebounds per game. Senior Candyce Bingham is second on the team in scoring and rebounding with 12.0 points and 6.9 rebounds per game.
All Cardinal games will be broadcast live on WKRD or at www.uoflsports.com. Jim Kelch will handle play-by-play duties while Adrienne Johnson will be the color analyst.
Morehead State enters the tournament on a two game losing streak, with their most recent a 78-69 loss at Toledo. The Eagles are led in scoring by Chynna Bozeman, who averages 15.3 points per game. Brittany Pittman leads the team on the boards with 10.6 rebounds per game. The Eagles are perfect in conference play. They opened up league play Dec. 4 with wins against UT Martin, 82-54, and Murray State, 84-76, in overtime. The Eagles are perfect at home this season with a 7-0 record with all four losses coming on the road.
Central Michigan enters the tournament on a two game losing streak, including a heartbreaking 78-77 loss to Milwaukee in their last game. Four players average double figures with Angel Chan averaging 14.1 points, Brandie Baker averages 12.2 points and Kaihla Szunko averages 10.6. Szunko also leads the team on the boards with 7.7 rebounds per game. The Chippewas are led in scoring by Britni Hougton with 21.1 points per game. Central Michigan leads the conference in scoring with an 81.4 points per game average.
New Hampshire enters the tournament after splitting their last two games. The Wildcats recently fell 64-37 to Canisius at home. Candace Williams has scored in double figures in all nine games. She leads the team in scoring with 14.9 points per game. Also averaging in double-figures is Amy Simpson with 12.1 points per game. Williams leads the team in rebounding and ranks second in the conference with 8.3 boards per game. The Wildcats are 1-4 on the road this season and 0-1 on a neutral court.
