RENO, Nev. (AP) - Angel McCoughtry scored 28 points and No. 7 Louisville beat Alabama 73-56 on Friday night in the first round of the Nugget Classic.
Candyce Bingham had 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Cardinals (5-0), who will play host Nevada in Saturday's championship game.
Ericka Russell had 16 points, Tierney Jenkins finished with 14 and Varisa Raffington 13 for Alabama (3-2), which will play Northern Iowa in the consolation game.
Alabama trailed 35-28 at halftime, but opened the second half with five quick points from Russell on a short jumper and a 3-pointer to cut it to 37-33 with 18:40 to play.
But McCoughtry hit a long 3-pointer, starting a 19-3 run that put Louisville ahead 56-36 with 10:23 to play.
