
NCAA Field Hockey Semifinals Set

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The field for the NCAA Field Hockey semifinals has been set. Four teams: Maryland, Iowa, Wake Forest and Syracuse will visit Trager Stadium November 21 and 23 to compete for the national crown. The semifinals will take place on Friday, Nov. 21 and will feature Iowa and Maryland at 5 p.m. and Wake Forest and Syracuse at 7:30 p.m.
Maryland (20-2), the tournament's overall top seed and Atlantic Coast Conference champion defeated Albany 4-2 and Duke 8-5 en route to their 12th NCAA semifinal appearance. The Terps won the national title in 2005 - the last time U of L hosted the championships.
Iowa (18-4) the fourth-seeded team in the tournament and Big Ten Conference champion, defeated Louisville 1-0 Saturday and Michigan State 1-0 on Monday after Sunday's second round game was postponed due to inclement weather.
Wake Forest (21-3) the tournament's overall No. 2 seed, defeated American 7-1 in the first round and Virginia 3-2 in the second to reach the NCAA semifinals. The Demon Deacons won their first national championship at Trager Stadium in 2002.
Syracuse (21-1), the BIG EAST Conference champion and overall third seed, beat Massachusetts 3-2 and edged Princeton 3-2 in overtime to reach their first NCAA semifinal game.
The winners of the semifinal games will meet for the national title on Sunday at 1 p.m. The game will also be televised live on CBS College Sports.
This marks the third time since 2002 that the University of Louisville's Trager Stadium has served as the host site for the national semifinals and championship - the event was also held there in 2002 and 2005.

Ticket Information
Single session tickets are $12 for adults and $6 for students with valid student I.D. Tournament passes are $20 for adults and $8 for students. Group tickets for students (18 and under - groups of 10 or more) are $3 per student and must be purchase by November 21, two hours prior to the first game.
Notes: Two members of the USA Olympic Field Hockey team: Carrie Lugo and Kelly Doton and national team assistant coach Pam Bustin will be honored between the semifinal games and will sign autographs during both halftimes.
The first 300 fans on Friday will receive either coffee mugs or USB drives and drawstring bags will be distributed to the first 200 fans on Sunday.
There will also be a drawing a Penn Monto field hockey stick on Friday and Sunday.
In addition to the NCAA tournament games, the National Field Hockey Coaches Association North/South Senior All-Star Games will take place on Nov. 22 with the Division II game starting at 5:30 p.m. and the Division I game at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free.
