
Louisville Opens Season with 82-49 Win

McCoughtry passed Nell Knox's record of 1,899 points and finished the game with 1,906. Knox has held the record since 1993. McCoughtry also recorded her 41st double-double, with 29 points and a team-high 13 rebounds.
Senior Candyce Bingham scored 11 points in the second half to finish with 13 points while Laura Terry added 11 points. Senior guard Blair Bowens led the Golden Eagles with 13 points.
The Cardinals jumped out to an early 10-2 lead to start the game. Louisville built a 19-point lead in the first half. The Golden Eagles finished the first half with a 9-4 run to cut the lead to 37-23 at the break.
Louisville started the second half with a 7-0 run. The Golden Eagles answered back with a 7-0 run of their own. McCoughtry scored a layup with 10:52 left in the game to give the Cards their largest lead of the game at 58-34. Tennessee Tech cut the lead to 18 with six minutes remaining but the Cards closed out the game with a 16-1 run.
The 10th ranked Cardinals finished the game shooting 50 percent from the field while holding Tennessee Tech to 34.7 percent. Louisville outrebounded Tennessee Tech 44-29.
The Cardinals will be back in action on Monday, Nov. 17 as they host Austin Peay. The game will be played at the Kentucky International Convention Center with a tip off time of 7:00 p.m.
