Louisville, Ky. - The University of Louisville women's basketball team hosted its annual media day activities Friday at Cardinal Arena to officially open the 2008-09 season. Head coach Jeff Walz and the Cardinal players discussed the upcoming season with members of the media.
The Cardinals were picked to finish third in the BIG EAST Conference by the league's 16 head coaches. Seniors Angel McCoughtry and Candyce Bingham were named the preseason All-BIG EAST team after leading the Cardinals in scoring and rebounding last season. The Cardinals are ranked in the Top 10 of every preseason poll for the first time in school history. The Cardinals rank between 7 and 10 in all the preseason polls.
The Cardinals will open their exhibition slate on Monday, Nov. 3 at 7:00 p.m. ET against the ASGR All-Stars at Freedom Hall. U of L will open the regular-season on Nov. 15 at Tennessee Tech.
