
Red and Black Dinner Set

Louisville, Ky. - The Academic Performance Committee of the University of Louisville Athletic Association will host the Eleventh Annual Red and Black Honors Banquet and Awards Ceremony for Scholar Athletes and their Faculty Mentors at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, February 25, 2007 in the Brown and Williamson Room.
Roman Oben, who played football for the Cardinals from 1992-95 will be the keynote speaker. He graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in 1995. An 11-year NFL veteran, Oben currently plays offensive tackle for the San Diego Chargers.
All student athletes invited to this banquet have earned at least a 3.25 cumulative grade point average for all semesters at UofL. Students invite a faculty mentor whose teaching has inspired them to achieve academic excellence. Scholar athletes, mentors, University Administration, Athletic Department Administration, Olga Peers Center Academic Counselors, head coaches and distinguished guest are recognized during the banquet.
Each scholar athlete is presented with a certificate recognizing their excellent academic achievement and congratulated for having maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher for all semesters enrolled at the University of Louisville.
Faulty Athletic Representative, Elaine Wise, along with the members of the Academic Performance Committee, announces and presents two Outstanding Senior Awards and two highest team GPA awards (one mens and one women's team).
National City Bank, a long time sponsor of this event, will also announce and present post graduate scholarship awards for the third consecutive year in the amount of $5,000.00 each.
