
Avila Earns All-America Honors

University of Louisville senior midfielder Janelle Avila was selected to the 2007 Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association All-America third team.
Avila, a native of North Kingstown, R.I. (North Kingstown HS), is a three-time all-West Region and all-conference first team member. The 2006 team co-captain was third on the team with 18 points (7G, 4A) in 2007 and finished her career at second on the school's career points list with 109 and is also second on the career goals list with 40.
Avila becomes the fourth Cardinal to earn All-America honors, joining three-time All-American Jessica Javelet (2004-06), Pip Sanders (2002) and two-time All-American Christy Hershey (2001 and 2003).
The Cardinals finished the 2007 season with a 14-6 overall record, including a 5-1 mark in BIG EAST Conference play, clinching a share of the regular season title along with Connecticut.
