
Covington's Record-Setting Night Highlights Cardinals' Win Over Panthers

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) -Angel McCoughtry had 18 points and 15 rebounds and Jazz Covington added 17 points and 11 rebounds to lead No. 18 Louisville to a 72-59 win over Pittsburgh on Wednesday night.
Shavonte Zellous led the Panthers with 22 points, while Xenia Stewart had 12 and Karlyle Lim had 11.
The Cardinals (19-2, 5-2 Big East) led only 33-29 with 3:06 left in the first half but scored eight straight points to pull away and led 41-32 at halftime. Covington had 13 points and six rebounds in the first half.
Louisville went on a 9-0 run to go up 53-36 with 15:03 left in the game.
Pittsburgh (15-4, 3-3) started strong, scoring the first seven points and jumping out to a 12-3 lead before Louisville took control.
The Cardinals went on a 16-4 run for a 19-16 lead with 11:59 left in the first half. Covington had six points during the spurt.
Covington became Louisville's all-time leading rebounder with 856. Her 8-of-11 field-goal shooting moved her into third place on the Cardinals' all-time scoring list with 1,659 points, behind Nell Knox and Kristin Mattox. Yuliya Tokova and Brandi Radde each scored 10 points for the Cardinals.
