
Softball Opens Fall Season

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville softball team will play host to Evansville, Morehead State and Western Kentucky in the Louisville Fall Softball Invitational on Sept 23 at Ulmer Stadium.
U of L finished the 2006 season with a program-best 45-11 record. Louisville won the BIG EAST regular season title and earned its third consecutive NCAA tournament at-large bid. After appearing the national rankings for the first time in school history, the Cardinals closed the year ranked No. 19 in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25 poll and No. 18 in the USA Today/NFCA softball poll. The Cards return 10 letterwinners and six starters from last year's team including 2006 BIG EAST Pitcher of the Year Catherine Bishop and fellow all-BIG EAST selections Audrey Rendon and Courtney Moore.
The Cards will travel to Oxford, Ohio to play Miami University on Sept. 30 to close out the fall season.
