The University of Louisville women's tennis team signed Jo-Ann Van Aerde of Paramaribo, Suriname to a National Letter-of-Intent to continue her tennis career as a Cardinal.
Van Aerde is recognized as one of the Top 60 incoming recruits for the 2006-07 season by Tennisrecruiting.net.
"We are very pleased to have signed Jo-Ann to come to U of L in the fall, said U of L head coach Greg Davis. "She is ranked as one of the top 200 junior players in the world by the International Tennis Federation in singles. I feel Jo-Ann will come in as a freshman and challenge for a spot in the lineup. I look forward to her arrival in the fall."
The Cards were ranked No. 74 in the final 2006 Intercollegiate Tennis Association's (ITA) year end poll. U of L is coming off a 23-7 season for their fourth straight 20+ win season under fourth year coach Greg Davis. U of L also made its first ever Top 50 appearance in the poll in 2006. The Cardinals return all six of their top players for the 2006-07 season.
