
Softball Set to Close Out Regular Season

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - - The No. 19-ranked University of Louisville softball team will close out the regular season with an East Coast road trip to Providence, Rutgers and Villanova this weekend. U of L carries a 35-8 (13-3 BIG EAST) record into their regular season finale. The Cards are riding a season-high nine game winning streak and are currently second in league standings.
The Cards are hitting .288 as a team and have four players currently batting above .300. Senior catcher Lacy Wood just snapped a season and career-high 13 game hitting streak, but has hits in the last two games, including a walkoff home run in the eighth against Notre Dame. Wood leads the team with a .392 batting average, 14 doubles and 34 RBI.
Junior RHP Catherine Bishop leads the team and the league with a 23-5 record and a 0.74 ERA. She has 170 strikeouts in 171 innings and is holding opponents to a .145 batting average. Sophomore Kady Garrick (9-2) holds a 1.04 ERA and is holding opponents to a .179 batting average with 65 strikeouts in 87.2 innings.

Scouting the Friars:
Providence brings a 29-16-1 record (11-9 BIG EAST) into the doubleheader which was rescheduled after being rained out on April 8. The Friars are in fifth place in the league and have clinched a spot in the BIG EAST Tournament.
PC is batting .285 as a team and is led offensively by Elena Romero who carries a .361 average with 26 runs and 26 RBI. Rachel Bartholomew follows with a .358 average and leads the teamwith 12 home runs and 40 RBI. Sam Pittman (.331), Katie Ross (.320) and Mary Sheehy (.316) round out the over .300 hitters.
Sara Surosky (17-11) has a 2.29 ERA with 153 strikeouts in 168.1 innings. Jennifer Maccio (10-5) carries a 2.18 ERA with 60 K's in 118.2 innings of work

Scouting the Scarlet Knights:
Rutgers (12-34, 4-14) stand at eleventh in the conference. Rutgers is led offensively by Brittany Loisel's .318 batting average and 22 runs. Kaitlyn Valiante follows with a .290 average and leads the team with 23 RBI.
Christina Yard (5-11) holds a 3.98 ERA in the circle and has 77 strikeouts in 107.1 innings. Christine Gillman (4-9) leads the team with a 3.66 ERA and has struck out 51 batters in 80.1 innings.

Scouting the Wildcats:
Villanova (13-34, 2-16) is currently in twelfth place in league standings. The Wildcats are hitting .270 as a team and are led by Morese's .369 average, 10 home runs and 37 RBI. Koenig is hitting .340 on the season with a team-leading 30 runs and nine home runs.
In the circle, Walsh (9-15) posts a team-leading 3.59 ERA with 135 strikeouts in 154 innings. Determan (4-13) has a 4.16 ERA with 91 K's in 111.0 innings.
