
2006 BIG EAST Softball Championship Rescheduled

South Bend, Ind. - The 2006 BIG EAST BIG The 2006 BIG EAST Softball Championship will resume on Friday, May 12, after the first day of the event was postponed due to inclement weather. The four games that were originally scheduled to be played Thursday will be played Friday, in addition to the semifinal games that are slated for Friday. Top-seeded Louisville will play No. 8 seeded St. John's Friday at 3:30 p.m. at Notre Dame's Ivy Field.
The six games will be played at two separate sites. Three games will be held at the Belleville Softball Complex, while the remaining three will be played at Ivy Field on Notre Dame's campus. The start times for both sites are set for 1:00 p.m. ET, 3:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.
The game between fourth seeded Syracuse and No. 5 DePaul, as well as the face off between top-seeded Louisville and No. 8 St. John's will be held at Ivy Field. The first game of the day, Syracuse vs. DePaul, will be played at 1:00 p.m., with the Louisville vs. St. John's game at 3:30 p.m. The winners of the two games will advance to the semifinals of the championship, which will be held at 7:00 p.m. at Ivy Field.
The Belleville Softball Complex will host games between No. 2 USF and No. 7 Pittsburgh, as well as No. 3 Notre Dame and No. 6 Providence. The first game, scheduled for 1:00 p.m., will be the USF/Pittsburgh match-up with the Notre Dame vs. Providence game slated for 3:30 p.m. The winners of the two games advance to the semifinals of the championship at 7:00 p.m. at Belleville Softball Complex.
Live audio will be available for the games played at the Belleville Complex. As of Thursday, the championship game on Saturday will still be broadcast live on CSTV and www.und.com.
