
Softball Ready to Host Kentucky

Louisville, Ky. - - The No. 23-ranked University of Louisville softball team will play host to the University of Kentucky (19-26) Wednesday at 5 p.m. at Ulmer Stadium. The game will be produced by WHAS-TV and will air on a delayed basis on Insight Communications cable channel 2 on Thursday, April 20 at 11 p.m. The announcers are Erik Waxler (play-by-play; new WHAS sports co-anchor) and former U of L player Lisa (McMillan) Pinkston.
The Cardinals enter the Kentucky game with a 26-7 record and on a two-game losing streak. Louisville is batting .284 as a team with five players batting over .300. Junior shortstop Courtney Moore leads the team with a .389 average, 27 runs and five home runs. Senior catcher Lacy Wood follows with a .386 average, 13 doubles and 28 RBI. Junior third baseman Audrey Rendon is third on the team batting .330 with 26 runs and 11 stolen bases. Senior outfielder Leslie Garland is fourth on the team going .304 with eight runs. Senior Michelle Vasquez rounds out the .300 hitters batting .302 with four home runs, seven doubles and 20 RBI.
Junior RHP Catherine Bishop leds the team with a 17-4 record and a 0.74 ERA. She has struck out 132 batters and is holding opponents to a .150 batting average.
Sophomore Kady Garrick has also been strong in the circle, posting a 6-2 record with a 1.43 ERA in 58.2 innings.
Series record: UK leads 10-5
Last meeting: The teams split a two-game series in 2005 with Kentucky taking the first game 3-2 in Lexington (April 14, 2005) and Louisville winning 6-0 at Ulmer Stadium (April 27, 2005)
Scouting the Wildcats:
UK enters the game with a 19-26 record (3-18 SEC). The Wildcats are on a two-game losing streak, suffering 2-1 and 2-0 losses to league opponent Arkansas on April 15. The Cats took the first game inthe series 8-0.
Kentucky is led offensively by Katie Campbell's .320 average, six home runs and 37 RBI. Meghan Cooper is batting .310 on the season with three triples and a team-leading 24 home runs. Megan Miller is third on the team with a .300 average, and 18 runs.
Jessica Trueblood (8-13) lead the Cats in the circle with a 3.06 ERA and 97 strikeouts in 123.2 innings. Amy Kendall carries a 4.17 ERA with 87 Ks in 100.2 innings.

The Cardinals will continue their home stand with a doubleheader against BIG EAST opponent on Friday, April 21 at 4:00 p.m. Pittsburgh will visit Sunday for another league doubleheader Sunday at 11 a.m. The first game of Sunday's doubleheader will also be televised on Insight Communications cable channel 2 on Monday at 11 p.m.
