- The Cardinals moved to 7-0 for the first time since 1925 and only the second time in school history.
- The Cardinals recorded their sixth straight road win and 10th win in the last 12 games. Louisville has also won seven straight BIG EAST Conference games.
- CB William Gay recorded his team-leading third interception of the season and the fourth of his career.
- DT Willie Williams and DE Brandon Cox made their first collegiate starts against Syracuse. Cox replaced Zach Anderson, who is out with an MCL injury.
- The Cardinals were held scoreless in the first quarter for the second straight week and the third time this season.
- Wide receivers Harry Douglas and Mario Urrutia caught a pass for the ninth straight game dating back to last season.
- After registering 23 yards in the last two games, Smith had a breakout game. He rushed 16 times for a career-high 165 yards and two touchdowns.
- The Cardinals, who entered the game at -2 in turnover margin, forced two turnovers in the game versus Syracuse. Louisville has forced at least one turnover in each of the last seven games.
- The Cardinals, who entered the game having turned the football over eight times in the last three games, turned the football over two more times.
- TE Gary Barnidge caught a pass in the third quarter to extend his streak of consecutive games with a reception to 14.
- RB Anthony Allen recorded the first two touchdown game of his career. Allen carried a career-high 10 times for 45 yards.
- WR Patrick Carter caught a pass in the fourth quarter, which was the first time he caught a pass since catching three versus Kentucky on September 3.
- The Cardinals limited Syracuse to 19 yards rushing, the fifth time this season Louisville has held its opponent below 100 yards on the ground.
- QB Brian Brohm moved into seventh in career passing yardage at U of L, passing Marty Lowe (4,871 yards from 1991-95). Brohm has 4,971 yards, just 29 short of 5,000.
