
Men's Soccer Falls to Ohio State 1-0

Columbus, Ohio - The Louisville (4-9-1, 3-5-0) men's soccer team fell 1-0 to Ohio State (7-5-2) Wednesday evening at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. After an hour lightning delay, the match was called with 15:40 remaining.
The Cardinals dominated much of the first half, leading in shots 9-6 and in corner kicks, 4-0. The first half ended in a scoreless tie.
The Buckeyes took control in the second half with a 9-1 shot advantage and a 1-0 lead in corners. In the 66th minute Xavier Balc sent a bending corner kick to the far post, which Eric Brunner headed the ball straight into the back of the net.
Just nine minutes after the Buckeye's goal play was delayed because of lightning and an hour later the match was called.
Ohio State finished the game with a 15-10 shot advantage while the Cardinals held a 4-1 corner kick advantage. Cardinal keeper David Simolike finished the game with six saves while Casey Latchen finished with two.
Louisville will be back in action on Saturday, Oct. 14 as they host Villanova for Senior Day at Noon in Cardinal Park. The game will honor Cardinal seniors Ryan Meyer and Nick Rice-Sarantis.
