The University of Louisville women's tennis team had an outstanding finish in the final session at Michigan State's Spartan Cup in East Lansing. U of L freshman, Maria Klokotzky, won the Flight A Singles and then paired with with Robyn White to win Flight A Doubles.
Klokotzky beat Michigan State's Christine Bader 6-3, 6-3 to clinch the title. She and White beat Illinois' Momei Ou and Emily Wang 8-5 for the Flight A Doubles title.
"We had a great tournament," said Greg Davis, U of L head coach. Our freshman, Maria Klokotzky, really stepped up and won the Flight A Singles without dropping a single set along the way. She and Robyn White then won the Flight A Doubles which is a tremendous accomplishment for her first collegiate tournament."
Suzanna Gracanin advanced to the championship match in Flight B Singles, before falling to Michigan State's Jessica Baron.
"Suzanna made the final match in the Flight B singles which was a very nice showing for us."
U of L was originally scheduled to play in the Rice Tournament in Houston, which was cancelled due to Hurricane Rita.
