Avila Named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - - Louisville forward Janelle Avila was named BIG EAST Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week for the period ending Sept. 11.
Avila, a sophomore from North Kingstown, R.I., scored three goals and added three assists for nine points on the weekend. She had one goal and one assist for three points in the 4-1 win over Pacific; and two goals and two assists for six points in the 4-0 win over Appalachian State. Avila is currently second on the team with 14 points, one away from tying her freshman year total. She is tied for second on the team with five goals and four assists.
U of L (5-1) will travel to Columbus, Ohio to face Ohio State Wednesday, Sept. 14 at 3 p.m.
