Sherman and Moore Earn Softball Regional Honors

University of Louisville softball players Aja Sherman and Courtney Moore were named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) South All-Region second team.

Sherman, a pitcher from Las Vegas, was the 2005 C-USA Pitcher of the Year. Sherman (22-11) threw a pair of no-hitters this season and holds the school record with six no-hitters and one perfect game in her career. The two-time All-C-USA first team member set a single-season school record with 13 shutouts and 270 strikeouts. She also registered a program-best 15 strikeouts in a game this year.

Moore a sophomore shortstop from Visalia, Calif., was the 2005 C-USA Co-MVP of the Year. She finished the season with a .405 batting average and belted out a school single-season record 17 home runs. She led the team with 52 RBI and a .785 slugging percentage, setting new single-season marks in both categories. Moore was also on the All-C-USA first team and the league All-Tournament team.

U of L finished the 2005 season with a 43-20 overall record, a new school record for wins in a season. The Cards won their first C-USA regular season title, finished runner-up in the league tournament and earned their second consecutive at-large bid to the NCAA tournament.
