
Softball's Bausher and Sherman Earn Academic Honors

University of Louisville softball players Sara Bausher and Aja Sherman have been named to the 2005 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District IV Softball first team. They will both be eligible for Academic All-America team consideration.
Bausher, a senior centerfielder from Las Vegas, is a four-year starter for the Cardinals, a two-time All-Conference USA team member and three-year co-captain. She is currently batting .280 on the season with six home runs, 25 RBI and 29 runs scored. She holds the school career records for home runs with 25 and runs scored with 114. Bausher, is majoring in Exercise Science & Sports Medicine and has been named to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll seven times, the Dean's List three times and the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll three times.
Sherman, a senior pitcher also from Las Vegas, is the 2005 Conference USA Pitcher of the Year. She is a four-year starter and team co-captain and a two-time All-C-USA team member. She holds the single-season shutout record with 12, the single season strikeout record with 239 and set the mark for most strikeouts in a game with 15. Sherman has earned Conference USA Pitcher of the Week honors five times this season and has a school-record six career no-hitters and one perfect game. Sherman is majoring in Fine Arts/Photography and has been named to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll and Dean's List twice and has earned C-USA Commissioner's List honors.
To be nominated, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore starter or significant reserve and carry a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or higher. Team members are selected by a vote of the members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) within the district.
