LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville softball team will host the Courtyard Marriott Classic March 25-26 at Ulmer Stadium. Other participating teams include top-ranked Michigan (27-1), Western Kentucky (14-10) and Middle Tennessee (6-16). The Cardinals (14-10) will play Middle Tennessee at noon and Western Kentucky at 2:00 p.m. Friday. Louisville is scheduled to play Michigan Saturday at noon. The teams will feed into bracket play at 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. Saturday.
The Cardinals are led offensively by sophomore shortstop Courtney Moore who is batting .397 on the season with five triples, six home runs and 18 RBI. Sophomore pitcher Catherine Bishop (9-4) holds a 1.06 ERA with 72 strikeouts in 86.0 innings. The Wolverines are ranked No. 1 in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25 and the NFCA/USA Today polls.
Michigan brings a 27-game win streak to Ulmer Stadium. Offensively, the Wolverines are hitting .316 as a team and are led by junior Tiffany Haas, who is batting .449 with eight doubles and 27 runs scored. Sophomore Lorilyn Wilson (11-0) is holding opponents to a 0.20 ERA and a .096 batting average. Wilson, along with the rest of the Michigan pitching rotation Jennie Ritter and Nicole Motyca have a combined ERA of 0.64.
The Hilltoppers are led by junior Sam Young's .356 batting average. Senior Shelly Floyd leads the team with four home runds, five doubles and 22 RBI. Junior Adrienne Lathrop (7-3) has a 1.98 ERA with 63 strikeouts in 74.1 innings.
The Blue Raiders' senior Jennifer Grybash leads the team with a .382 average. Melissa Weiland is batting .292 with three home runs, three doubles and 10 RBI. Freshman Ashley Katinas (3-13) has 60 strikeouts in 92 innings while senior Crystal Bobo (3-3) has a 3.56 ERA.
