
Moore and Sherman Sweep C-USA Softball Honors

For the second time in three weeks, a pair of Louisville Cardinals swept the Conference USA Softball Players of the Week awards as shortstop Courtney Moore garnered her second Hitter of the Week honor of the season and Preseason Pitcher of the Year Aja Sherman earned her first Pitcher of the Week award of the season. The Cardinals were 4-0 at the Mardi Gras Classic to capture the team title. Moore came through with a pair of game-winning hits, while Sherman chalked up a pair of shut outs in the classic.
Moore, a sophomore from Visalia, Calif., captured MVP honors at the Mardi Gras Classic in Monroe, La. The sophomore batted .500 (6-for-12) with a home run and five RBI. She also tallied a pair of game-winning hits to help lead the Cards to the classic title.
Sherman, a senior from Las Vegas, notched a pair of shutouts on the week going 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA. She fanned 14 in 12 innings. She struck out six Lady Techsters en route to a one-hitter against Louisiana Tech. Sherman scattered two hits and struck out eight in a 1-0 win over San Jose State.
The Cards (8-5) will play their home opener against Ball State at 1:30 p.m. and Missouri at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 25.
