Buckner Named to Cardinal Athletic Fund Post

Jason Buckner, an Indiana University graduate and a former member of the Learfield Communications staff, has been named Assistant Director of the Cardinal Athletic Fund at the University of Louisville.
Buckner, will provide customer service for U of L's CAF donors, as well has develop new markets in Southern Indiana and Elizabethtown. He will oversee the Hall of Fame selection committee and has been tasked with organizing the popular Cardinal Caravan this summer.
Buckner graduated from Indiana University in 2003 where he worked as an intern for the associate athletic director of business operations as well as completing an internship for IU's Sports Properties/Learfield Communications. As an undergrad, he served as a manager for the men's basketball program. Buckner, also was the lead intern for the Larry Walker Fellowship at USA Track and Field in 2001.
Already active in the Louisville community, Buckner is a member of the 100 Black Men of Louisville where he is mentoring Central High School students as a part of the MAC Scholars Program Committee. He also serves as assistant varsity basketball coach at Atherton High School. Buckner has a strong basketball heritage, as his father, Quinn, was a 1976 Indiana graduate and a key member of the Hoosiers' 1976 NCAA Championship squad, the last Division I college team to go undefeated (31-0). The elder Buckner won an Olympic gold medal before his NBA career. He has coached in the NBA as well as served as an analyst for ESPN.
