Women's Tennis Falls to FIU

The University of Louisville women's tennis team fell 5-2 to Florida International at a neutral site in Tampa, Florida on Sunday. The Cardinals move to 17-9 for the season as they head into next week's Conference USA Tournament to be hosted in Louisville at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
U of L challenged FIU for the doubles point. The Cardinals started out strong when the No. 1 pair of Julia Hierl and Michele Spiess beat Mei Ly and Bruna Discordia 8-4. U of L's No. 2 pair of Kelly Taylor and Natalie Laszkowski fell just short after a 9-7 battle over Paula Zabala and Desanka Jovanovic. Paige Eber and Christina Gogol were beaten 8-4 by Christine Suard and Shilla D'Armas.
Taylor rebounded nicely at No. 3 singles with a 6-0, 6-1 win over D'Armas. Gogol perservered to win 7-5, 6-4 over Suard for the Cardinals' second point.
