Women's tennis player Michele Spiess was named to the Conference USA Second Team All-Conference Team. Spiess plays No. 1 singles and doubles for the Cardinal squad that just posted its second straight 20-win season and made the semi-final match of the C-USA Tournament in consecutive years.
"Michele being named to the all-conference team is a great recognition for the fine season she had. This honor is well-deserved," said head coach Greg Davis, whose squad continues to make history with back-to-back 20-win seasons.
For the second consecutive year, Tulane's Jenny Kuhn was named the Conference USA Women's Tennis Player of the Year, while her coach, David Schumacher, received his third Coach of the Year accolade, as the 2004 All-Conference USA Teams and individual awards were announced on Tuesday. DePaul's Gergana Ganvea was named Freshman of the Year, after leading the Blue Demons to a 19-10 record, including a 6-0 C-USA mark. Kuhn also earned the Outstanding Singles Player of the Championship honor, while TCU's tandem of Saber Pierce and Ana Cetnik claimed the league's Outstanding Doubles Team of the Championship accolade.
