
Sherman and Nord Earn League Honors

University of Louisville softball players Aja Sherman and Shannon Nord earned Conference USA Player of the week honors on April 26. Sherman was named C-USA Pitcher of the Week and Nord was Co-Hitter of the Week for their performances while leading the Cards to a 3-1 record for for the period ending April 25.
Sherman, a junior from Las Vegas, posted Louisville's first perfect game in the Cardinals' 8-0 five-inning win over Charlotte. She retired all 15 batters she faced, while striking out six. The feat marked her second no-hitter of the season and the third of her career. Sherman also posted a win in the series finale over the 49ers. On the week, she had a 0.58 ERA, allowed one earned run and limited her opponents to a .122 batting average. She is a perfect 10-0 in league action this season.
Nord, a senior left fielder from Jeffersonville, Ind., batted .462 (6-for-13) on the week. The Cards' leadoff hitter led the team with a .462 on base percentage and had at least one hit in each contest. She went 2-for-2 with two runs, two RBI and double in U of L's 8-0 win over Charlotte. Nord collected three stolen bases and is now second on the school's list for career stolen bases with 36. She is batting .344 on the season and leads the team in runs scored with 33.
U of L (38-11) will play its final regular season home game against Evansville on Tuesday, April 27 in a doubleheader beginning at 4:00 p.m. at Ulmer Stadium. The Cardinals will also celebrate senior day in between games by honoring Nord and fellow senior Kristi Rozelle.
