USF Beats Charlotte for Fifth

USF 4, CHARLOTTE 0 USF claimed a fifth-place showing in the Conference USA Women's Tennis Championship after defeating seventh-seeded Charlotte, 4-0, on Sunday at Seneca Park. The 49ers finished in sixth place.
The duo of Gabriela Duch and Marie France Lord Andrade were down 3-0, but came back to notch eight straight points to win at No. 1 doubles over Charlotte's team of Laura Swain and Ashleigh Murray. Fabiana Taverna and Luisa Obando clinched the doubles point for USF after claiming a 9-7 victory over Megan Bullins and Ali Piacente at No. 2.
With her doubles win, Duch added another dominant performance, sweeping Swain, 6-4, 6-0 at No. 1. USF's Taverna also swept, posting a 6-2, 6-2 decision over Murray, while Obando downed Marilyn Clark, 6-0, 6-2 at No. 6.
