TCU Beats USF 4-1

TCU 4, USF 1 LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Second-seeded TCU advanced to the semifinals of the Conference USA Women's Tennis Championship after defeating No. 8 USF, 4-1, at Bass-Rudd Tennis Center on Friday. The Horned Frogs have now won their 14th consecutive match and will next face host Louisville on Saturday at 3 p.m.
The No. 32-ranked team of Saber Pierce and Ana Cetnik posted an 8-5 decision over Marie France Lord Andrade and Gabriela Duch at the No. 1 position. Paty Aburto and Karla Mancinas outlasted the USF tandem of Fabiana Taverna, 8-5, at No. 2 to give the Frogs a 1-0 lead.
USF fired back in singles when Duch swept No. 48 Aburto, 6-0, 6-2, at No. 1. However TCU held off the Bulls' run and claimed the No. 1, 2 and 3 spots. Pierce defeated Taverna, 6-1, 2-6, 6-1, while Cetnik swept Patricia Kolendo, 6-2, 6-4.
USF will continue in Saturday's consolation round where the Bulls will take on DePaul at 9 a.m.
