
Women's Tennis Catch Roadrunners with 6-1 Win

SAN ANTONIO -The University of Louisville Cardinals won five singles matches and the doubles point to defeat the UTSA women's tennis team, 6-1, at the UTSA Tennis Center. Louisville improves to 14-5 on the season and UTSA falls to 4-6.
In doubles action, the Cardinals started the match by taking the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3. Kelly Taylor and Natalie Laszkowski held on to beat Nadezda Rossikhina and Massiel Martinez 8-6. At No. 3, Paige Eber and Christina Gogol breezed to an 8-1 win over Kateryna Romanenko and Ana Paula Soto. UTSA's Paula Erausquin and sophomore Barbara Mooney combined to defeat Julia Hierl and Michele Spiess, 8-4 at No. 1.
The Cardinals almost ran the table in singles. Michele Spiess rolled over Paula Erausquin 6-1 in the first set and survived 7-6 (5) in the second. Taylor, who was bumped up to the No. 2 spot, took on Martinez and won 6-4, 6-1. Hierl handled UTSA's Barbara Mooney 6-1, 6-3 at No .3 and Gogol rolled over Soto 6-3, 6-0. Laszkowski defeated Sonya Gonzalez by default. UTSA's Romanenko dropped Paige Eber, 6-7, 6-2 (9), in the Roadrunners' only singles win of the afternoon.
The Cardinals, on their Spring Break Trip, travel on to Houston March 18 for a conference matchup.
