
Softball Travels to Norman for Oklahoma/Nike Classic

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville softball team travels to Norman, Okla., for this weekend's Oklahoma/Nike Classic. The Cardinals, who have won four straight entering the weekend, open with a doubleheader against No. 4 Oklahoma at 3:30 p.m. Friday before taking on Sam Houston State and North Carolina in doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.

Garrick and Rendon earn league honors
Kady Garrick was named Conference USA Pitcher of the Week and Audrey Rendon was Co-Hitter of the Week for the period ending Feb. 16.
Garrick, a freshman from Tucson, Ariz., tossed a complete game shutout against North Carolina State, allowing just two hits and did not issue a walk. She also combined with Catherine Bishop to shut out Purdue 5-0. In that game, she allowed two hits in five innings.
Rendon, a freshman from Pueblo, Colo., went 5-for-8 with a double, a stolen base and a run as the Cards went 3-0 in the North Carolina Triangle Classic. She went 3-for-3 in the Cards' 5-0 win over Purdue and had at least one hit in each of Louisville's games in the tournament. Rendon currently leads the team with a .389 batting average.
Recapping last weekend
The Cards went 3-0 in the North Carolina Triangle Classic Feb. 13-15. U of L opened the tournament with a 5-1 win over Radford. The Cardinals jumped on the scoreboard in the first on Lacy Wood's three-run home run. Lisa Estes' solo shot increased U of L's lead to 4-0. The Highlanders capitalized on back-to-back doubles to score a run in the fourth, but Louisville added another run in the fifth for the 5-1 game. The Cards had nine hits to Radford's three and were led by Wood, who finished batting 2-for-3 in the contest. Starter Aja Sherman picked up the win, allowing three hits and striking out nine in seven innings.
Louisville posted a 2-0 win over North Carolina State in the second game of the Triangle Classic. The Cardinals jumped to a 1-0 lead in the first when Sara Bausher drew a walk and scored on an error. U of L added a second run in the sixth when Courtney walked, moved to second on Alma Navarrete's single and scored on a passed ball. U of L starter Kady Garrick picked up the win, allowing two hits and striking out three in five innings. Catherine Bishop combined with Garrick for the shutout and posted her first career save, holding the Wolfpack hitless and striking out three in two innings.
U of L closed the tournament with a 5-0 win over Purdue. Shannon Nord led off the first inning with an infield single and scored on an error to give the Cards a 1-0 lead. A two-run double by Lisa Estes increase the lead to 3-0 in the first. Bausher's two-run single in the sixth sent Audrey Rendon and Nord home to make it a 5-0 game. Garrick picked up her second win of thetournament, and her first complete game shutout, allowing two hits and striking out two in seven innings. She retired 14 consecutive batters before giving up her first hit in the sixth inning. Offensively, the Cards had 10 hits and were led by Rendon, who was 3-for-3 with a run.
