Louisville Head Coach Bobby Petrino
"I was happy about the way we came out and played really aggressively. I was a little concerned going into this game because of the short week to prepare and the physical game at Memphis last week. We cut back on our practices a little bit to let them rest up after the Memphis game and they came in on Monday and really turned it on. I thought our defense did a great job of bouncing back and working hard after last week. Overall, this was a good win and it actually surprised me a little bit because I thought it would be a very competitive game."
"We were able to get on them early and gain some momentum. They came after our offense with some blitzes early on and we were able to get some pass plays down field which really opened things up for us. Our receivers ran some good routes and our quarterbacks did a good job of getting them the ball. I'd like to be more stubborn and run the ball, but they were putting so many guys in the box that we just couldn't get enough going there."
"I think it was important for us to establish some momentum early on and use our speed to do it. This wasn't like the Memphis game where they were able to establish things and gain the early momentum. I think once we got control and got in front of them, they didn't really feel like they could catch us."
"To be honest, I got after our offense a little bit at halftime because I felt like we could be doing more. We did do some good things and ended up playing pretty well overall. I thought our quarterbacks did a nice job of creating positive plays when things were covered down field."
TCU Head Coach Gary Patterson
(On Louisville's quick start) "That's happened to us all year long. At some point in time, you've got to do something about it. Right now, we're not playing very well. From a coaching standpoint, it was embarrassing."
(On Louisville as a team) "You've got to give Louisville credit. They're a dang good football team. This is the best Louisville team we've played in my four years here. Across the board, Tom Jurich has done a great job of building this place. It's a great stadium, they've got a great backing. This is exactly what TCU wants to be, but we were not tonight."
"We've got two ball games now to win and have a chance to have a winning season and to have any chance to go to a bowl game."
U of L Senior QB Stefan LeFors
"It was a nice win for our team. They were doing a few things to try to throw us off a bit and did a good job disguising different looks. We did a great job executing when we had to and put up a lot of points. With the front five we've got, I've got the easiest job in the world. We've got a lot of weapons everywhere on the field."
"We wanted to get the ball and come out on that first drive and score. We wanted to let our defense feel more comfortable with a lead and not put any pressure on them. They did a great job tonight holding them in the first half. It was a great start and we finished it off well."
U of L Senior CB Kerry Rhodes
"It was good to get out of here with a win on our home field and get the monkey off our back against that team. TCU played a good game. We were just the better team tonight."
"TCU played a more traditional offense (than Memphis last week). They just lined up and played football. Memphis did a good job last week getting rid of the ball quickly, we couldn't get to the quarterback and they were controlling it by throwing a lot of screen passes."
"I think it's good for our psyche. We know we have a good defense and know we can shut people down. This shows that we're a resilient team."
