
Field Hockey Falls to Ohio 3-2

ATHENS, Ohio. - - The University of Louisville field hockey team fell to host Ohio University 3-2 Saturday in a Mid-American Conference game.
The Bobcats got on the scoreboard first when Colleen Marshall collected a rebound off of Louisville goalkeeper freshman Marie-Claire Heller and scored to give OU a 1-0 lead.
U of L responded on their first penalty corner with 1:20 remaining in the first half. Sophomore Lisa Wasser connected on a direct shot with assists from senior Suzanne Irwin and junior April White to even the score.
The teams entered haltime tied at 1-1. Ohio edged the Cards in shots 5-4 and the teams each had one penalty corner.
Ohio regained the lead midway through the second half when Amanda Arnold delivered on a pass from Lindsay Rothenberger in the middle of the circle to make it a 2-1 game.
The Cardinals answered on another penalty corner with 6:46 remaining in the contest when junior Rachel Overton's direct shot sailed past Ohio goalkeeper Jennifer Cote to tie the game at 2-2.
The Bobcats' Taylor Edwards capped the scoring when she connected on a pass from Rothenberger to give Ohio the 3-2 win with 1:02 left in the game.
Ohio outshot the Cardinals 10-8, but Louisville held a 4-3 edge in penalty corners. Heller (8-5) posted four saves in the loss. Ohio's Cote registered six saves. OU improves to 5-13 (3-5 MAC).
The Cardinals (9-9, 7-2 MAC) will close out the regular season on Saturday, Oct. 30 when they travel to Oxford, Ohio for a game against MAC opponent Miami (Ohio).
