Women's Track & Field Adds Eight Signees

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - University of Louisville women's track and field head coach Warren Bye announced today that eight student-athletes have signed national letters-of-intent to continue their education and compete in track and field for the Cardinals in 2003-04.
"I am very excited about this class," said Bye. "Each one of these girls is very talented and will help us in a variety of areas as we continue to build the tradition here at Louisville."
The signing class includes:
Afua Amponsah
Hurdles ▪ Woodbridge, Va. (Gar-Field HS)
2003 Virginia State AAA champion in 100-meter hurdles ... Finished third in 300-meter hurdles at outdoor state meet as a senior ... Placed third in 55-meter hurdles and fourth in 300-meter hurdles at 2003 state indoor meet ... Three-time state qualifier in 100-meter hurdles ... Best 100-meter hurdles time is 14.13 seconds.
Jill Andres
Throws ▪ Floyds Knobs, Ind. (Providence HS)
Indiana state runner-up in discus in 2003 ... Best discus throw is 139 feet ... Three-time state qualifier in discus ... Named all-state as a senior.

Ran first leg of 4x800-meter national championship relay team at 2003 adidas Track & Field Championship ...
