The University of Louisville women's tennis team was named to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's (ITA) All-Academic Team Award list. Melisa San Martin and Jasmin Singh also earned notice for academic excellence as individuals for the Cardinals.
"We are extremely pleased to be honored and recognized by the ITA academically," said Greg Davis, first year head coach at U of L. "Women's tennis has a history of academic excellence and we are committed to continue the tradition."
Any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale) is eligible for the ITA All-Academic Team award. The student-athletes whose names appear have competed in one or more varsity matches must average into the GPA for the current academic year (including fall 2002 and spring 2003). They must be a letterwinner, post a 3.50 or better grade point average and have been enrolled for at least two semesters.
The Cardinals set a school record last spring for wins and placed third in the Conference USA Championships for the highest finish in school history.
