LOUISVILLE, Ky. - University of Louisville Athletics has received a $ 500,000 challenge gift toward athletic facilities from an anonymous donor, according to U of L Director of Athletics Tom Jurich.
The funds will be directed toward a planned natatorium on the U of L campus as part of another development phase of Cardinal Park. Designs are being finalized on a $10 million natatorium, which will sit on the corner of Floyd Street and Warnock Avenue on the U of L campus. The gift is contingent upon U of L raising a matching amount by June 30.
"The natatorium is extremely important to our athletic department and the university community as a whole," said Jurich. "We are very appreciative of this challenge gift and how it will bring us much closer to our fund-raising goals for this facet of Cardinal Park."
U of L is actively seeking gifts for the project, which would require less than $500,000 in additional funding with the challenge grant completed. Interested donors may contact Janet Lively in the Cardinal Athletic Fund office at (502) 852-0117.
