
Cardinals Fall to Charlotte 80-65 on the Road

Charlotte, NC - Louisville could not overcome Charlotte's three-point shooting in the first half, falling 80-65 in Halton Arena on Sunday afternoon. Lori Nero led all scorers with 23 points and nine rebounds. Amanda Wolke scored 15 and Kim Graham added 13. Peaches Harris led Charlotte with 15 points.
Louisville shot 43.1 percent from the field while Charlotte shot 45.6 percent. The 49ers outrebounded the Cards 36-33.
Charlotte shot 50 percent from the three point line in the first half, hitting 5 of 5 to lead 21-10 at the 14:23 mark. Then the Cards used a 13-4 run to go cut the lead to 25-23 with 10:18 remaining in the first half.
Sara Nord was whistled for her third foul going for a lose ball at the 4:37 mark with Charlotte leading 31-27. The 49ers took advantage of her absence and went on an 11-2 run to go up 42-29 at the halftime break.
Louisville shot 56.5 percent in the first half but committed 14 turnovers in the half. Charlotte shot 45.7 percent from the field and outrebounded Louisville 17-12.
Louisville will be back in action on Sunday, Feb. 16 in Freedom Hall against Cincinnati. The game is scheduled for a 3:00 p.m. tipoff.
