We had two big wins this past weekend against Tulane and Southern Miss. Tulane was a big win because they were undefeated in the conference. I was excited to play them because I knew some of the players, and their post players are dominant on their team.
Before Friday's game I heard that we were predicted to lose. We proved writers wrong by coming out with a lot of intensity. It was a team effort and a team win. In the game Sunday against Southern Miss we had another important victory; every game is a must win at this point. We knew that we were a better team, and we didn't want to play down to our competition.
I told a few post players from Tulane to "go get 'em" against Cincinnati, because they were traveling to play them next. They defeated them, and that should help us out. From this point on it is important for us to win. I feel like many teams are playing well, leaving us all competing for the top spot. It is most important for us to win on the road, which is proving to be a challenge for us. We have focus problems, and we need to make sure that we take care of our bodies when traveling. If we go into road games with the right mindset and good preparation we should be able to take care of business.
I am pleased with my performance from this past weekend. My goal is to get double-doubles from this point on. I am confident that I can do this. We're playing ECU and Charlotte this weekend. Charlotte is undefeated in the conference, and I think that we will play hard knowing this. Hopefully when we get back on Sunday we will be returning with two road wins. Wish us luck!
