I don't even know where to begin. HELP! I think it's safe to say that things are not going well. I cannot believe we have lost five in a row! Being 14-11 is not where we pictured ourselves, and we aren't happy with this. Chemistry has been a problem with this team, but in the beginning of this season things seemed okay. Since we are facing rough times, these issues are surfacing. I feel partly responsible because I came to this team to bring leadership, but it's a difficult task coming in trying to alter other people's mindsets. In order for this to take place basketball has to be a top priority in everyone, not just certain individuals.
After the UAB and ECU losses we gathered to discuss what we could change in order to win and get back to our goals. We discussed teamwork, accountability, focus, and giving 100 percent in practice. We committed ourselves to these principles. We can't afford to go through the motions because it just holds us back. I'm tired of talking about these things. I just want us to start doing something about it.
Last week during practice I sprained my MCL. It was scary because I haven't been injured before. It was very painful when it first happened, but now it feels better. When I played this weekend, I look back and think that I played cautiously. In the game against Marquette I was more nervous about hurting it further, but when we played Depaul I felt a little more comfortable. The brace was helpful, but it restricted my movement.
I was very excited this weekend because my family flew in to attend Senior Day. I was able to spend time with my daughter, and I think that our weather surprised them. They are used to Louisiana temperatures, and this snowy, icy weather was waiting for them. Boo! I wish that they could have watched a better game.
We're traveling to St. Louis and Memphis this weekend. Fans can listen to the game on the radio or online, and for those that make the trip to cheer us on I hope to see you there!
